"So, tell us about yourself."

It's nerve-wracking to get this question in interviews, but I know it's part of the process. Speaking of process, that's how I operate! Creation is a step-by-step process where, first, you get an idea. Then you brainstorm ways to express that idea; maybe outline, doodle up some little thumbnails, pick some of those, then expand on them. When that's done, you refine it before you put the last finishing touches. Finally, it goes on air. On every step of the way, you get feedback.

My name's Rellie (he/they, name pronounced like 'relish') and I do designs and illustrations. I'm from Saskatoon, SK, and spent two years in Vancouver, BC to earn a graphic design diploma at a career college.

I like team-building activities, volunteering, writing on the side, the occasional knitting, talking about topics to think about, getting bit by two cats I'm watching over as of writing, and doodling. That last one's important:

For many years, I've been known to pick up a paper and a pen(cil) everywhere, even in class. Instead of doodling in the lined margin, I'd have a separate sheet. Perhaps I knew that one day those doodles would serve a purpose. That's the heart of design, isn't it? Every element included has a reason to be there, and that's what I communicate through my work. To this day, I'm still doing it while taking notes in university as a business management major. It is clear that art has always been a passion for me. And not to self-deprecate, but now, I'm doing it for money. (Just kidding, I still love art for the sake of its existence!)

When I have commissions open, I'll be making announcements on every social I have!
